the third morpheme in a classifier strategy. Example: in Chrau du tong aq one crossbow, tong is a sortal classifier for long objects that refers to the crossbow (aq) and combines with the modifier du one. A sortal classifer contrasts with a mensural classifier in that it does not measure out an amount of the object (crossbow), it simply classifies it by its type or sort. A repeater is a special type of sortal classifier. (Section 5.2.2) |
