a strategy for the complement of an utterance event in which the form as well as the content of an utterance is expressed. Example: in Sandy said, I'm buying the house, the complement I'm buying the house is presented in its original form -- the speaker is not asserting that s/he is buying the house. A direct report strategy may be accompanied by a quotative marker. Although the direct report strategy originates with utterance complement clause constructions, it is also used with other complement clause constructions lower in the Binding Hierarchy. The Model of Comparative concepts for Constructicon Alignment (MoCCA; Lorenzi et al. 2024) proposes to connect constructions across and within languages using Comparative Concepts as a shared base of comparison. It adopts the set of Comparative Concepts provided by Croft (2022).
