| Definition | a construal or information packaging of two events such that the two events are construed as parts of a complex whole. Example: in Jim was promoted and Cindy quit, the events of Jim being promoted and Cindy quitting are conceived of as parts of a complex whole (e.g. a causal sequence). A complex figure packaging construes the events as equal in status, and also requires a common denominator for the two events. This information packaging is found in coordinate constructions. The Model of Comparative concepts for Constructicon Alignment (MoCCA; Lorenzi et al. 2024) proposes to connect constructions across and within languages using Comparative Concepts as a shared base of comparison. It adopts the set of Comparative Concepts provided by Croft (2022).
